CARLAMITTIE JANE — I HAVEN’T PLANNED IT, BUT I FOUND MY PASSION IN AVIATION

Carlamittie Jane has not one but two job titles – she’s a Head of Sales & Business Development at FL Technics Indonesia and the Vice Chairman of the Airframe Division at IAMSA (Indonesian Aircraft Maintenance Services Association). Can it get more impressive than that? Apparently, yes. Carlamittie has also just been nominated the Employee of the Year 2023 in the category of New Horizons. “I feel great — beyond blessed, very grateful and honored to receive this acknowledgment,” says Carlamittie. But what’s her secret of success? Let’s find out!

Carlamittie, who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Psychology and a Master’s in Business Administration, started her career in aviation almost 12 years ago. It was never her plan to join the industry, though. As she was finishing her Bachelor’s degree, Carlamittie initially considered pursuing further education in China, Europe, or Australia. However, her friend offered her a job in Sepang Aircraft Engineering Sdn Bhd, an Airbus Group Company, she decided to accept it, and never looked back since.

Carlamittie’s last year’s work achievements in the group stand out prominently. Notable accomplishments include handling VietJet Air’s C check after years of persistence, being awarded for Philippines Airlines 2023 Landing Gear Replacement for 7 aircraft, winning Cebu Pacific’s Tender Bid for the second time in 2024, and representing FL Technics Indonesia in Hannover Messe, Germany, via IAMSA.

Looking ahead, Carlamittie has already set her sights on exploring new markets such as Korea, Brunei, Australia, and India. Her strategy involves building relationships, consistency, and seizing opportunities, starting with smaller queries and gradually expanding to more significant ventures.

Reflecting on the experiences that shaped her professional journey, Carlamittie attributes her success to a combination of education and work experiences. Her master’s degree instilled critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while her work experiences in the aviation industry made her more knowledgeable about approaches, strategies, and risk management.

Carlamittie thinks of herself as “an introverted salesperson” and acknowledges that intense human interaction, a crucial aspect of her role, can be draining. Seeking support from other departments within tight deadlines is part of her routine. To recharge, she always takes alone time, which provides a quick reset for her energy. If she could go back in time, Carlamittie would advise her younger self to be wiser, consider the bigger picture of cases, and actively seek opportunities.

To describe Avia Solutions Group in 3 words, Carlamittie chooses “prestige,” “iconic,” and “global network.” For her, these words not only signify the company’s standing but also the vast opportunities and connections the group provides. For anyone who would like to be nominated as an Employee of the Year, her advice is simple, “Adhere to the company’s core values, be dedicated, show your commitment to learning, and last but not least, be ready to go above and beyond expectations.”
