We are currently recruiting on behalf of Magma Aviation to source an enthusiastic Ledger Clerk to join our successful Finance team based in Gatwick. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with 1-3 years’ experience in a similar role to take their career to the next level. This role could also suit a candidate who has completed relevant studies and is looking to get stuck into their first practical role. The position has arisen through continued business growth so we are looking for someone who would like to join our expanding team!

We are keen to support the successful candidate for this position with their on-going career development and are therefore open to offer a study support package with this role. The ideal candidate must bring excellent communication skills and the confidence to liaise with a wide range of people across difference cultures and levels. The ability to work well under pressure and manage their own time efficiently is also essential. A high degree of computer literacy including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word will be required to succeed in this role.

Purpose of Role

  • To maintain and produce accurate accounting records and to maintain appropriate financial controls for the business areas assigned.
  • To provide support to the Finance function in keeping the accounts, recording and maintaining financial transactions and preparing regular statements to ensure the Company’s financial targets are met.
  • To work in line with the company Finance Strategy.

Accounts Receivable

  • Enter sales invoice details into accounting software accurately.
  • Support the recovery of debts owed to the company.

Accounts Payable

  • Enter purchase invoice details into accounting software accurately.
  • Proactively ensure purchase invoices are properly authorised, compliance checked and paid when they fall due utilising credit terms where appropriate.

Banking / Payment Run

  • Ensure payment run for invoices due each week is completed and that payments created are on online bank system.

Communication

  • Participate in conference calls to ensure effective sharing of information and full awareness of others in the finance team and other offices if applicable to the job role.
  • Treat sensitive data with care and in a confidential and professional manner.

Other

  • To carry out any other duties within the competence of the role holder, as requested (including additional working hours as and when required).
  • To travel when required in line with business needs.
  • Be aware of and comply with the company policies.
  • Keep up to date with industry changes, procedures and requirements relating to job role.
