Overview:
JETMS Completions is an Aircraft Interiors company based at Biggin Hill Kent, London. Its main objective is to supply Design, Certification, Manufacture and Installation of commercial and VVIP aircraft interiors to the aviation industry.
JETMS is a family member of Avia Solutions Group, the largest ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider globally, managing a fleet of approximately 209 aircraft. In addition to ACMI services, ASG offers a wide range of aviation solutions, including MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul), pilot and crew training, ground handling, and more.
Scope of Role:
JETMS Completions, is seeking multi-skilled Senior Design Engineer – Cabin Interiors to design, develop, integrate and document interior payload system requirements to establish the system design of small, and small, large rotorcraft. To produce all 3D Design models, 2D drawings and Bill of Materials [APAs] and associated supporting documentation, to forward to a UK CAA or EASA 21J DOA, to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, customer requirements and procedures defined in the JETMS Design Organization Handbook (DOH).
Key Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the JETMS Completions Head of Design / Design Office Manager and working with the JETMS 21G POA, Part 145 MOA, to identify requirements and their associated solutions for active and upcoming projects.
- Develop engineering design solutions with the use of CAD, systems such as, but not restricted to: -
- Modification to cabin layout by introducing new LOPA (Layout of Passenger Accommodation) and its associated changes such as Passenger Service Units (PSU), Emergency Equipment, etc.
- Installation of Galleys, monuments, lavatories, class dividers, seating throughout the cabin to meet end customer requirements
- Modification to the existing aircraft environmental systems such as air conditioning systems, water and waste.
- Introduction of new aircraft paint schemes (liveries) and emergency marking system.
- Installation/Modification of new Crew Rest stations
- Liaise with other JETMS Completions design engineers to organize and control working teams
- To liaise with DO / Project managers to ensure [to best of one’s ability] an on time, on budget design solution
- Produce and support via substantiation documents, to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory and operational requirements, including:
- Flammability documentation
- Design reports (egress, direct view, etc…)
- Test plans and reports.
- Stress Report [FEA, FEM] liaison with stress engineer.
- Cabin walkthrough plans and reports.
- System Safety Analysis for interior components and systems
- Compile engineering accomplishment documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness including:
- Service Bulletins / accomplishment instructions
- Aircraft and component manual supplements
- Attend various design / customer meetings and represent JETMS Completions on aircraft surveys and on-site installation support, at various locations, UK and overseas.
- Support the statement of work and bids for new customer requests, due to long term absence of either the Head of Design or DO Manager.
- Work closely with customers, outside vendors, MROs, Part 21J DOA and other teams within the company, to create engineering solutions that exceed customer expectations on time and within budget
- Undertake all manner of design projects from simple changes to complex STCs
Minimum Qualifications:
HNC/D Mechanical Engineering (or similar) with ideally a minimum 5-6 years of aircraft interiors mechanical / structural design engineering industrial experience.
Skills / Experience:
- Current or recent employment within the aerospace industry specifically working with an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation (or equivalent) is preferable
- Inventor AutoCAD experience
- Knowledge and experience of aircraft interior reconfiguration programmes and primary and secondary aircraft structures is preferable
- Working knowledge of sheet metal forming/fabrication/machining
- Working knowledge of aircraft material and fastener selection, hole size types, sealants & finishing
- Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of EASA regulatory and airworthiness requirements including (E)TSO, CS23, CS-25, CS-29, CFR Part 25 & Part 21J design organisations.
- Experience of aircraft interior reconfiguration programmes and primary and secondary aircraft structures is preferable
- A high level of attention to detail and professional integrity
- Ability to work on multiple programmes with varying level of requirements efficiently and effectively
- Ability to prioritise workloads and show flexibility to changing situations/demands
- Detailed working knowledge of all aircraft continued airworthiness documentation.
