With a newly acquired UK AOC Ascend Airways are operating a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft (NG and MAX) in the ACMI market, opening its first operational base at London Gatwick in early 2024. The company is part of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider, operating a fleet of 221 aircraft on 6 continents.

The group also provides a range of aviation services: MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul), pilot and crew training, ground handling, as well as a variety of associated aviation services. Supported by 14,000 highly skilled aviation professionals, the group is a parent company to over 250+ subsidiaries.

The role will be responsible for providing Material Management insupport of all aircraft material and services. Managing and leading a team ofMaterial Controllers who provide 365-day support for the aircraft maintenanceoperation. Manage key supplier relationships and act as a point of escalationfor both operational and commercial issues. Deliver a strategic warehousing,storage, transport and logistics solution to supports the ACMI business model.Ensure data accuracy across all applications. Develop internal relationshipswith key departments and ensure communication channels are in place.

Responsibilities:

• Delivery of 365-day Supply Chain operational support.
• Material provisioning in support of AOG, defects and routine maintenance events.
• Deliver and manage a warehouse and storage solution in support of worldwide operations.
• Manage contracted logistics providers for UK, EU and ROW material shipments.
• Define departmental processes.
• Manage key suppliers and act as point of escalation
• Review contracted supplier SLAs and KPIs, providing feedback to the Senior Management Team
• Develop communication strategies whilst managing relationships with key internal departments
• An awareness of lean processes to identify and implement or improve costs and time saving initiatives.
• Deputise for the Head of Procurement as and when required.

The successful candidate will have the following experience and attributes

• Purchasing; 5 years + experience required preferably in aviation environment.
• Knowledge of CAA and EASA regulations.
• Ability to work well on their own initiative and demonstrate. strong cross functional working relationships.
• Excellent team ethics and communication skills at all levels, and able to use all forms of communication affectively.
• Good computer literacy, with experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
• Experience with Business Central or ERP systems.
• Able to demonstrate cost and commercial awareness within the function and with suppliers.
• Ability to travel to other sites when/if required.
