Celebrating those who take bold steps beyond the familiar, embrace new challenges, and turn ambition into professional growth, the Breakthrough Mastermind Award recognizes people willing to push themselves further. At the 2025 Avia Solutions Group “Highflyers” Employee of the Year Awards, this recognition went to Yudha Susanto Yuliardi of FL Technics Indonesia, whose transition from Structural Repairs Team Leader to RTS B1 Engineer reflects a determination to keep learning and moving forward.
For Yudha, the decision to take on a new technical path was driven by a simple motivation - the desire to grow.
“My motivation is a desire to keep growing and an enthusiasm for new challenges,” he says.
Moving from a workshop leadership position into the role of RTS B1 Engineer, while gaining Boeing and Airbus type ratings, meant stepping into greater responsibility and developing a new level of technical independence. For Yudha, one of the biggest challenges has been strengthening his problem-solving abilities while learning when to rely on his own judgement and when to work together with the wider team.
“The steepest learning curve has been responsibility and problem-solving, both independently and as part of a team,” he explains.
While the role may be different, Yudha has carried important lessons from his previous experience. Leading a Structural Repairs team taught him the value of teamwork, speed, precision and accuracy - qualities that remain essential as his technical responsibilities continue to develop.
“Teamwork, speed, precision and accuracy are qualities I bring from my previous position,” he says.
That combination of experience and willingness to learn has helped Yudha approach his career transition not as a fresh start, but as another stage in a longer journey. Each new responsibility builds on what came before, while creating opportunities to develop new skills and perspectives.
One moment in particular made that progress feel especially tangible. At the beginning of 2025, Yudha received recognition from Avia Solutions Group and was invited to Lithuania - an experience he describes as the moment he realized he had reached another level professionally.
For Yudha, however, the award represents more than personal achievement. He also hopes his progress can encourage others to take on challenges of their own.
“This recognition means personal achievement and motivation for others,” he says.
That mindset is reflected in the advice he gives colleagues who may be considering a similar move into a more advanced technical role. Rather than waiting until they feel completely ready, Yudha believes continued learning and a willingness to step outside familiar territory drives progress.
“Always keep learning, and don’t be afraid to try new things.”
He is equally clear that professional growth rarely happens alone. Yudha credits both his family and colleagues for providing the support that allowed him to take on new responsibilities and continue developing throughout his career.
“Without the support of my family and colleagues, I would not have been able to grow the way I have,” he says.
And while the Breakthrough Mastermind Award marks an important milestone, Yudha does not see it as the end of the journey. His advice to future nominees is to recognize how far they have already come while continuing to look ahead.
“Look back every now and then, and you will realize where you came from. The journey of achievement never truly ends.”
