Recognizing people with the potential to shape the future of aviation, the Rising Talent Award celebrates those who demonstrate initiative, leadership, and the drive to make a meaningful difference. One of the 10 winners from across Avia Solution Group’s 11,000 employees, Captain Recky Caraka, Manager - Standards & Training at BBN Airlines Indonesia, has already made a significant impact on operational excellence, compliance and training across the business.
One of Recky’s most important contributions was supporting BBN Airlines Indonesia on its journey to achieving IOSA certification in 2025. He revised approximately 75% of Operations Manuals A, B, C and D, drawing on previous IOSA experience to identify gaps and ensure standards were correctly reflected across the organization.
“My previous IOSA experience helped me understand the standards and audit requirements,” Recky explains. “I used this experience to identify the gaps and structure the revision of the Operations Manuals A-D.”
For Recky, however, the achievement was never an individual effort. Close coordination with the regulator was essential, but so was the wider team's commitment.
“Most importantly, I had a great team supporting me. We divided the work, communicated closely, and worked together to complete the revisions.”
That same focus on practical improvement led Recky to help transform the company’s training approach. Mandatory courses previously delivered by external providers were brought in-house, reducing reliance on third parties while giving BBN Airlines Indonesia greater control over scheduling, monitoring, and training quality.
As both a manager and an instructor, Recky can also connect policy directly with practice. “As a manager, I make sure the standards and policies are clearly defined and consistently applied. As an instructor, I can directly translate those standards into practical learning for the trainees.”
His attention is already turning to the next challenges. Major priorities include the certification process for BBN Airlines Indonesia’s new Airbus A320 fleet, the company’s Risk-Based IOSA renewal, and further development of its pilot Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) program.
Recky prefers to keep his approach flexible, adapting to the aviation industry's changing needs while maintaining a clear focus on compliance, training quality, and efficiency.
Despite receiving individual recognition for his contribution at the 2025 Avia Solutions Group “Highflyers” Employee of the Year Awards, he sees the Rising Talent Award as something shared by the entire Flight Operations team.
“I see this recognition as the highest appreciation for the hard work of our entire Flight Operations team,” he says. “This recognition would not be possible without their support and teamwork. This is truly a team achievement.”
His advice to future nominees reflects the understated approach that has shaped his own success: “Just do your best, stay committed to your work, and let the results speak for themselves.”
