We’re looking for aleader who can combine aviation expertise with strong management skills. AsHead of Training, you will oversee pilot training operations across BAATraining’s European locations, ensuring high-quality standards, regulatorycompliance, and efficient daily operations.

This role offers theopportunity to lead a team, manage ATO operations, optimize training programs,and collaborate with aviation authorities. You will have the freedom to improveprocesses, drive innovation, and shape the future of our Approved TrainingOrganization (ATO).

We promise a highly challenging field and wide scopeof responsibilities, which will initially cover:

• Lead and manageATO training operations, ensuring compliance with Part-FCL, ORA.ATO.110(b), andregulatory standards.

• Oversee andcoordinate deputies and postholders (CFI, CTKI), ensuring efficient management,clear accountability, and operational excellence.

• Manage thedevelopment, review, and implementation of ATO manuals, training programs, andschedules, ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with organizationalgoals.

• Supervise trainingprogress, evaluate performance, and take corrective actions to maintain highstandards.

• Identify andmitigate safety risks, assess hazards, and implement strategies to maintainsafety and regulatory compliance.

• Provide managementoversight in analyzing training quality, using feedback and data to driveprocess improvements.

• Reportoperational, safety, and performance issues to the Accountable Manager,ensuring transparency and accountability.

• Represent the ATOin external relations with Aviation Authorities and collaborate with internaldepartments (Sales, HR) to ensure alignment with company objectives.

• Lead continuousimprovement efforts and optimize training processes, fostering a culture ofquality and operational efficiency.

• Managedepartmental goals, KPIs, and resource allocation, aligning them with strategicbusiness objectives.

• Lead and mentorthe team, promoting a professional, collaborative environment, and fosteringLean-based efficiency.

• Oversee ad hoctraining and FSTD assessments as necessary, ensuring high-quality execution.

 

We dream about a team member who:

1. Has extensiveunderstanding of regulatory requirements applicable to pilot training and ATOmanagement.

2. Has provenexperience in leading and managing an ATO or airline department, includingoversight of financial, operational, and administrative functions, holding aPost Holder position.

3. Has at least 50hours of training experience as a Type Rating Instructor (TRI) or SyntheticFlight Instructor (SFI) and holds an ATPL(A) license.

4. Holds or has helda Type Rating Examiner (TRE) qualification issued by an EASA-recognizedRegulatory Authority (advantage).

5. Has completedspecialized training in managing human resources (advantage).

6. Has strong peoplemanagement skills.

7. Has completedSafety Management System (SMS) courses within the past two years (advantage).

8. Is an effectiveoperational independent user of the English language.

9. Has good skillsin a Microsoft Office 365 environment or basic conceptual computer literacy.

10. Has strongcommunication skills.

11. Is able to workindependently, is self-motivated, and willing to take ownership.

12. Knows how tomanage several complex projects simultaneously.

13. Has analyticaland conceptual thinking skills.

14. Is willing toshare skills, knowledge, and expertise.

15. Is flexible withgood time management skills.

16. Has a respectfuland positive attitude.

17. Is eager tolearn every day and believes aviation could be the love of one’s life.
