About the Role

Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Management Accountant is a senior finance role responsible for driving financial performance, insight, and strategic decision-making across the organisation. This position owns the budgeting and forecasting cycle, delivers high-quality financial reporting, and provides commercially focused insights to the executive team.

As a trusted business partner, you will work closely with the CFO and senior leaders to shape financial strategy, optimise performance, and support key business initiatives, including investment decisions, pricing, and growth opportunities. You will also play a key leadership role within the finance function, overseeing and developing a Financial Analyst while ensuring the delivery of high-quality outputs.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in either Cairns (Cairns Airport) or Brisbane (Southbank office), working standard business hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
• Deliver accurate, timely financial reporting and performance insights
• Provide strategic advice and partner with senior stakeholders
• Develop financial models, cashflow forecasts, and scenario analysis
• Monitor KPIs, risks, and performance improvement opportunities
• Support pricing, cost management, and profitability analysis
• Drive improvements in systems, reporting, and automation
• Ensure strong financial governance and compliance
• Lead and oversee a Financial Analyst, including mentoring and development

Requirements

• Qualifications in Accounting, Business, or Finance (CIMA, CA or CPA desirable)
• 5–10+ years’ experience in management accounting or a related field
• Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance and KPI analysis
• Advanced financial modelling and scenario analysis capability
• Strong understanding of cost behaviour, profitability, and commercial drivers
• Experience producing executive-level reporting and supporting strategic and investment decisions
• Experience leading finance team members
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and commercial acumen
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with high attention to detail, organisation, and professional integrity, and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment
